What the two glucose units mean
mg/dL records milligrams of glucose per decilitre. mmol/L records millimoles of glucose per litre. Both labels describe the same glucose measurement in different units.
The converter uses the factor of 18: divide mg/dL by 18 for mmol/L, or multiply mmol/L by 18 for mg/dL. Values stay in this browser while you use the tool.
Keep the unit with each record
When comparing handwritten or exported records, noting the unit beside each number helps keep the record clear. Glytrio offers a blood sugar log and a glucose log for factual entries, plus a diabetes food diary for meal records.
Source for the conversion formula
Diabetes.co.uk: Blood Sugar Converter states the same glucose formulas: mmol/L = mg/dL ÷ 18 and mg/dL = 18 × mmol/L.
